WIN plc has received a cash offer of 141p per share from IMI Mobile.

WIN are an AIM-listed mobile content and services and have been valued by IMI as £15.93 million. The expansion of the IMI portfolio reflects the entire industry as a whole, the idea is don’t compete – buy the competition.

Google music streaming over iTunes?

The ever expanding Google group have decided to invest in music streaming amongst other media projects.

Essentially Google are opening all of their Android media services to general desktop users. Google have acquired Simplify Media to facilitate this new initiative.

PayPal Payments on Android

FTC Approves Google’s/AdMob

The FTC recently approved the $750m acquisition of mobile adversing network – Admob. The announcement took longer than expected due to an investigation over antitrust, which ultimately was thrown out due to a lack of data on the industry. The FTC did, however, warn that it would be keeping a close eye on the situation.

With the advent of the mobile phone application, anyone can now make an application to influence people and Fogg reports on the ability for apps to build routine and regular behaviour though triggers.

Android ships 100k units per day

Mobile marketing Magazine reported last week that more than 100,000 mobile handsets with Google’s android operating system are being sold every day. The article also reported on the latest developments for the OS, with new features such as flash support within the mobile browser being added.

HipLogic does deal with Carphone

Social application integrator HipLogic has struck a deal with mobile retail giant Carphone Warehouse. The deal will see HipLogic customising most handsets sold by the retailer to give customers easier access to sites such as Facebook and Twitter as well as Sky News and Sports.

The move is designed to allow Carphone to build a stronger relationship with its customers.

Cellphones nt a replacement for cash – YET..

MocoNews recently reported on mopays recent efforts to increase the number of people paying for good using their mobile phone. Their technology relied on the ability to charge goods to the end users mobile bill.

Entry to this market could turn out to be futile is payment giant Visa has its way. The company plans to bring in contact less payment methods this year with chips built into iPhone cases.

NPR has reported in the rise in mobile apps being created to diagnose and manage mental health issues which can be used to record information directly from the patient 24 hours a day. The applications, which allows users to record how they are feeling, can feedback to therapists to help diagnose conditions more easily.

Shazam gets bigger

Shazam has hit a musical milestone this week by announcing it now has 75 million users. In addition, its users now have access to more than 1 bn songs.

The software, which allows users to hold a mobile device to a speakers to recognise the song thats playing and deliver a link to buy, has been available to the public for 10 years and is reported to be iTunes biggest affiliate.

Mobile marketing magazine recently reported on 1goals claim to have developed the worlds biggest mobile campaign ever. The Fifa approved project with backing from Telefonica hopes to get people to sign up via mobile as part of a drive to help get education to every child in the world by 2015.

The campaign includes a range of additional features such as wallpaper and ring tone downloads.

Brits spend £1/2 Billion on apps

A recent survey by LG has discovered that Brits spend £420 million a year on apps for the latest range of handsets. The survey also looked at what customers wanted from an app, with money saving being the most wanted features, followed closely by apps that save you time.

This, LG believes, proves there is a market for handset manufacturers to sell apps outside the leading provider – Apple and itunes.

Agencies to focus on Android

A recent report by InfoMedia has warned companies not to ignore Android when developing mobile strategies, with the mobile operating system now accounting for more than 4% of the market share.

Recent releases of the popular HTC brand have helped solidify brand amongst handset buyers in recent months.

The iPhone App that pays on the move

Mobile marketing magazine recently reported on a new application for the iPhone which pays users for surveys they complete. Developed by OnePoll, users are able to earn between 10 pence and £5 per completed survey with funds paid directly into user Paypal accounts.

It opens up the possibility for users to earn on the move via a simply to use interface.

Spain top for mobile music

Mobile phone users in Spain listen to more music on their mobile phone than any other users in Europe, according to a recent report from ComScore MobiLens tracking service.

The report also revealed that for then 54 million people in the EU listen to music on their phones, of which 47% browse the internet. This, according to the report, highlights the potential for advertising based around generating music sales.

Twitter for iPhone

Tweetie 2, the popular iPhone app for Twitter users, has been removed from the app store to make room for Twitter for iPhone. This comes after Twitter bought Tweetie 2 last month to give it better control of the most popular Twitter application.

Reviews for the new app are yet to emerge due to some issues downloading the new application.

Mobile marketing watch this week reported on increasing activity at Amazon Kindle HQ, with rumours flying around of increased hiring activity with a view to the possible development of a next generation Kindle device.

Inevitable comparisons were made between the Kindle and iPad, with Steve Jobs even quoted as saying “Now Amazon’s done a great job of pioneering this functionality with the Kindle, and we’re going to stand on their shoulders and go a bit further.”
